Date # 19

I didn't cancel despite the hurricane like conditions out last night. I was to meet A at Extra Virgin a small, let me emphasize small restaurant in the W Village. I took the subway from my apartment, because i thought it would be impossible to get a cab- already that's a big feat for me, and not surprisingly, I got lost! I really feel that below 14th street no one has any idea how to get around NYC, let alone speak English! Its pouring, and cold, and i'm lost... but I finally find my way after the pizza delivery guy points me in the opposite way that I was originally walking. The restaurant is super tiny, and they don't take reservations- A was waiting there, and we got drinks at the bar. Truth, i was annoyed bc theres a lot of people walking and bumping into each other, but finally we sit. And chat, and it feels comfortable, and nice, and he loves to talk, and he's really good at engaging me in a conversation. He pays compliments every other word, which is cute. To confirm, he's a self labeled snob, as he so eloquently put it, and is a Trust fund baby- which would be the reason for his love of designer everything.. yack! But seriously, he's cute, and smart, and funny- he paid for dinner, and then we walked (yes in the rain) to try to find a cab (yes, best of luck!) and then finally got into one. Went to the Tribecca Grand hotel, and had drinks there. We sat on the couch and made out ( i know i was that girl!!) and chatted and drank. Overall it was such a fun evening! We'll definitely see each other again, just not sure when.
Tonight- downtown with D.

Date # 18

So I was supposed to be on a 48 hour detox plan, but I ended up meeting D for im-promptu drinks last night. I think by far the best date yet. He’s so funny, and kind, and really easy to talk to. He called, and I almost said I couldn’t go, because I had just got out of the shower, and then I was supposed to clean the apartment. But I’m so glad I said yes, and we met up for about an hour and half- and I learned so much about him… Like how he was in HS, and his parents, and his family. It was just really nice. And I have plans with him to go out this Saturday, and I can’t wait.
But bringing it back to reality- I have dinner plans with A tonight, and I too am really excited for that. Just completely different people.

Date # 17

I met J for one drink last night at a place called Chill Lounge- the place is nothing spectacular except the prices! 1 Martini and 1 Jack on the rocks was- wait for it, wait for it, $11.00!! Shocking I know! So I offered to pay… J I have very good conversations with J- as he likes to talk a lot also. And we talked a lot about his family bc both of his sisters are graduating colleges soon. However, I’m not sure if I’m “attracted” to J. I mean I enjoy the time when I’m with him, and we laugh, but when we kissed I was more like, ehhhh more then I should have been. Also, he works in a professional industry that’s fairly pretty intense at times (he’s a lawyer)- yet he describes his work as easy, and that he leaves at 5:30 everyday. Now, naturally I asked about making your hours, and doing extra, and really he’s pretty firm on a work life balance. That’s awesome! Yet- I know plenty of lawyers and they don’t have that…. I said I could probably see him on Sunday, as of right now, I’m free.
Last night I also spoke to D very quickly, as he called to see if I wanted to meet him out- but I couldn’t. And I also spoke with A- who is very charming, and I’m way out of my league. Somehow we got onto the topic of brands, and I explained that I’m not a brand snob, and he went to town on how he loves brands, and named them all! Even some I’ve never heard of! He spoke about these boots, and this suit! I kept saying wow…. And then he kind of stepped back, and made a joke about not being gay (which is OK), because I was totally lost in the convo. Regardless, he’s funny over the phone, and wicked ambitious. I never called H or R back, which is tonight’s agenda- I’ll be taking a night off to have my liver recover, and to get some sleep.

date # 16

Last night I met with E. Very sweet, and seemed a bit nervous. We both had activates to attend to, so it was a quick meeting for a drink. Overall it went well and he was pleasant. I don’t know how much of a spark was there, but he could have been pre-occupied because he’s in the process of changing jobs. Interesting tid-bit of the night: He was engaged once and broke it off because there was no passion after 5 years of dating. Yikes!
In other news.. I spoke with A last night, and we seem to be emailing back and forth daily. He alluded to calling me again tonight- hooray!
Just confirmed a place with D for Saturday, so that should be a lot of fun! And quick drinks with J tonight after work.
I’ve been playing phone tag with H and R- and anticipate meeting them soon

Date # 15

Last night was wonderful! I had such a fun time with D. And by fun I mean, there’s something so austere about him, yet, when he speaks its comfortable. I was late for dinner, which is unfortunate bc that’s becoming a bad habit of mine. We went to a French restaurant, ate, chatted about the weekend. It felt nice. Then we walked home, and I went to his apartment, and we watched a movie. Now- I know I can be picky- however, his apartment was just so far off the charts of messy that it seems virtually impossible to not have noticed. I mean there were things everywhere! And yet, it didn’t seem to bother him. I didn’t say anything, but if you could imagine the messiest apartment ever- then multiply it by 5 = that’s what I was in last night. On a different note- we made out on the couch for about an hour, and then I went home, bc I was exhausted! Overall, great night. I’m supposed to see him on Saturday, but I was hoping I would be able to see him sooner.

Heres some random thoughts I’ve been having: I don’t like comparing each person against each other, but I am, and I’m not sure how to stop it. Each person is sooooo different. D is 35, he’s in a completely different mind-set then anyone I know. J is 29- he’s closer to my mindset I think, but he’s just moving to the city, and experiencing new things. And I think we might be too alike! I think its hard not to compare. I wish I could take a quality from each person and put them all together to make the perfect person.

Date #14

Second date with J from wine tasting- he was already waiting at the Morgan Bar (in the hotel) when I arrived. Hug/Kiss, walk in, and since i had never been there, I thought we were entering through the wrong door- but no! Go down the stairs, and in the back, is this cute lounge tucked away in the bottom of the hotel! It was empty in there, so naturally we had the pick of seats. We sat on a couch and drank Martini's. He's very funny! Which is awesome. And we have so much in common- eerily too much maybe. We spoke about 90210 for about 40 minutes! And his love for bad reality TV. So it's probably like 11:30 at this point and I'm tired... and he says, ok well lets get going, i have a surprise. Now, I love surprises- so naturally I was intrigued. We walk a few blocks and end up at the Empire State building! That's right, its open until 2Am! And be surprised, as there were lots of people waiting in line. He wins big points for this awesomely crafted plan! He pre-bought tickets so we didn't have to wait- we took the elevator up, looked all over the city, kiss, and then took the elevator back down, walked to grand central, where we parted ways. How awesome is that? Ive never been so it was a lovely treat!
Updates: Dining with D tonight...
Spoke with cocky guy very briefly on Saturday

Date # 13

Another great date! I met up with A at the Royalton Hotel in mid-town for a drink. We both had plans after so we knew it was going to be quick. He's actually from my same hometown, and while we didn't get a chance to do the do you know- game, i can assume we have a lot of friends in common. He's super charming, and ambitious, as he runs a side business in addition to working in Finance. He was telling me about his friend whom he was going to meet and they were talking about this friends engagement tactic plans. Wow are they elaborate! Including a trip to London, then a private jet to Paris culminating with a dinner on the countryside- and popping the question. Talk about creative!! More importantly we barely began chipping away at his love for awful television programing, when we had realized that an hour and half had flown by...It was seriously to0 quick of a meeting, and i really hope he calls!
